At the core of BINGO’s methodological innovation lies its cross-linguistic imagined speech protocol, specifically designed to probe how the brain encodes language across different linguistic systems. The protocol was formulated around carefully selected pairs of Greek and English words that share the same semantic meaning, enabling direct, controlled comparisons while minimizing conceptual confounds. During each trial, participants are visually prompted with a single lexical item and instructed to silently imagine articulating the word in the target language, an approach that facilitates the study of both language-dependent and language-independent neural patterns.
Full experimental protocol will become available in the upcoming deliverables. Stay tuned!
